The project The Moscow Trials is an reenactment that resumes the trial of Pussy Riot and the dispute between
artists and orthodox believers. The film has the form of political theatre with many of the original participants; Katja Samuzewitsch (Pussy Riot), Maxim Shevchenko (Russian TV star), Vsevolod Chaplin (arch priest) and dissident philosopher Mikhail Ryklin. The director Milo Rau, Switzerland, International Institute of Political Murder, makes major historical events accessible to spectators in his artistic work. By going beyond the boundaries between the different artistic media, blending history, art and politics, Milo Rau composes a theatre of the real that favours reflection on indoctrination, pedagogy on superficial and simplified information.
